The BIBLE states, “…all the days of my appointed time will I wait, until my change come…” (Job 14:14b) These are Prophet Job’s words and they mean something as Job was afflicted beyond human comprehension. I’m certain (being tried and tested), Job wondered, “Where is God?” Paraphrasing, Job’s wife said, “What you waiting for Job? Why don’t you curse God and die?” Imagine, the person who should be your right arm tells you to blaspheme the Lord and die! Yet, Job was a “…perfect and upright man…” and he knew better than to listen to the devil! [Note: the enemy will use anybody to upset your apple cart including your wife, Mother, Father, children, and/or best friend.] Thus, we should do as Prophet Job, “When HEAVEN Does Not Answer!”
BRING IT DOWN ON HOME:
We all under go so many, many, many problems, tests, trials, tribulations, suffering, sickness, disease, loss of family members and friends, the loss of jobs, etc. The list never ends! Do you have unanswered prayers? Do you feel there is no help for you? Do you feel all alone? Are you unable to tell others what’s really bothering you because they will think less of you? Are you ashamed? Well join the club!
Whether or not Jesus is your personal Savior, there is one thing we all share “…our appointed time on Earth…” You are not here by accident and you are here for a reason! DO NOT FEEL LIKE A PERSONA NON-GRATA! Every day that you breathe air, you should Praise the Lord for the good, the bad, and the ugly! The sun ain’t gonna shine everyday as rain must fall!
Let us look at king David’s word, “One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life… For in the time of trouble, HE shall hide me in His pavilion: in the secret of His tabernacle shall He hide me; He shall set me up upon a rock. And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in His Tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.” (Psalm 27:4-6)
Now let’s put these suggestions to use:
(1) Every day of your life, you must wait on the LORD and you must believe that HE is able to make the changes happen in your life. BUT, you’ve got to BELIEVE the LORD is ABLE! Those who come to the LORD must first believe that HE is a deliverer! The Lord is a jealous GOD; so you cannot put Him in second place! If you don’t wait on the LORD, then, you are taking matters into your own hands! Trust me, you DO NOT want to do this!
(2) While you are waiting, don’t look at your present circumstances. If you do, the devil will make you lose your mind! The enemy will infiltrate your mind with silly questions and slogans, accusations, bad news, depression, and hopelessness. None of these things is attributable to the Christian Believer! God knows that we are human beings. The Bible is very descriptive about Prophet Job’s state of mind and his physical condition. In fact, Job said, “My soul is weary of my life…” As a human, Job was bitter about his circumstances. No one can blame Job for feeling low; but Job took it to another level by cursing the day he was conceived in his Mother’s womb and born into the World! Have you ever felt like Job? Do you cuss out people and say ugly things? Be honest! Yet, in the end, Job said, “…all the days of my appointed time will I wait until my change come…”
(3) Bare in mind the words of the Sweet-Psalmist of ISRAEL, king David! Exactly, what did David do in his Time of Trouble?
(a) David sought after the Lord which means he went looking for Him. David did not wait for the Lord to seek him out! (Notice that David did not go to the whore house or down to the neighborhood tavern looking for solutions!) Instead, David found refuge in the secret place of God’s tabernacle and he found the Lord in His Temple. So, David hid under the Shadow of the ALMIGHTY GOD! (In the New Testament, Joseph and Mary went looking for Jesus, about 12 years old, who was in His Father’s Temple; so, they found Jesus! However, Jesus was not being idle or poking around as He was teaching God’s Word to grown men! Thus, we should live by Jesus’ examples.)
(b) In reward to David’s faith and obedience, God made him the King of Israel and set him upon a rock (a solid foundation). Thus, David went from being a shepherd boy (attending sheep) to the THRONE of Israel (over GOD’S Chosen People). (You can be ever so low in spirit and proverty, but God will take you from the streets or gutter and seat you at the head of the table.) Don’t doubt David’s trials and testing for one minute as David was constantly running for his life, living in caves, sleeping on dirt floors, fighting for his rights, and surrounded by all the undesirable people who were outcasts in society. Yet, God was with David! (Naturally, God will be with you, “…if you abide in HIM and HIS Word abides in you…ask what you will…”)
(c) David gave the Lord GOD all the honor and glory by singing and praising His Name. No body had to make David do this because he wanted to worship the Lord and he did so joyfully! In spite of the fact that everything wasn’t honky-dory, David kept his eyes upon the Lord GOD ALMIGHTY. Also, David made GOD the head of his life (not the tail)!
In fact, king David wrote, “The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His Name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff They comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” (Psalm 23)
In closing, “When HEAVEN Does Not ANSWER!” go to the “fall out shelter” and “fall down on your knees” or “lay prostrate on your face” before the Lord GOD ALMIGHTY! Thus, you can turn your bedroom, living room, den, kitchen, closet, garden, or whatever into a “fall out shelter.” Just get some place quiet, let go, and lay everything (and everybody) out before the Lord GOD!
Have a Blessed Day!
