The Bible says, “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.” (Proverbs 15:3) Let’s check out a famous person in the Bible who had it all! He was blessed, highly favored, and extremely wealthy – but he made a grave mistake. All of his greatness went to his head and he fell from the Grace of GOD. After this person fell, he had no place to run and no place to hide from the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY!
BRING IT DOWN ON HOME:
You’ve watched a lot of horror films about people running from aliens, zombies, moving out to the desert, mountains, forests, and the wilderness to escape. Realistically, there are lots of people quitting their jobs and packing up their families to live in remote places and/or move to foreign countries away from everybody. Maybe you know folks who are building underground bunkers and storing all kinds of food (canning, grains, water, etc.), medical supplies, clothing, furniture, creature comforts, and weapons to protect themselves and their families from all dangers seen and unseen.
POINT: I’m here to tell you and the World that it is good to protect yourself and your families but there is no where to hide from the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY!
King Solomon wrote the Book of Proverbs and he had a lot to say! However, king Solomon was the wisest man (born to earthy parents) in the Bible and he was the biggest fool in Biblical history! This man (king Solomon) had it all and he willingly fell from the Grace of GOD! Solomon admitted, “And I gave my heart to know wisdom and to know madness and folly.” (Ecclesiastes 1:17-18)
After the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY removed Saul (the first king over Israel), GOD chose the second king – a man after His own heart – David! Prior to king David’s death, the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY chose Solomon (king David’s son) to reign over all Israel. As you know, king Solomon asked the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY for an understanding heart…to be able to discern between good and bad…and to rule over Israel.
Not only did the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY answer the king’s request, HE gave him much more, “LO, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee. And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honor: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.” (I Kings 3:12-13)
POINT: DON’T TRY TO PLAY GOD! Playing the role of the biggest fool, king Solomon chose to interact wisdom with madness and folly …and… madness and folly with wisdom. And, Solomon’s act failed and so will yours and mine (if we play the fool). One thing you should know is that GOD ain’t crazy and HE sees everything that we think, meditate, and do! GOD will not (although HE can) get up in our faces (the next second) as we act up. Instead, HE generally gives us time and space to repent and to make an about-face towards HIM.
POINT: YOU CAN’T HIDE! Without a doubt, king Solomon loved two things: (1) The LORD GOD ALMIGHTY; and (2) STRANGE WOMEN – SEX. With all king Solomon’s wealth and wisdom, he could not hide his sin from the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY. Guess what? These crazy women turned king Solomon’s heart away from the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY. You cannot serve two masters – GOD and the dEVIL! Either, you will love one and hate the other.
The LORD GOD ALMIGHTY said to Solomon, “But if ye turn away and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them; Then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have sanctified for MY name, will I cast out of MY sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all nations. And this house, which is high, shall be an astonishment to every one that passeth by it; so that he shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and unto this house? And it shall be answered, Because they forsook the LORD GOD of their fathers, which brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath HE brought all this evil upon them.” (II Chronicles 7:19-22)
You can run, but YOU CAN’T HIDE!
Have a Blessed Day!
