Worldwide News: “WHEN FRIENDS FORSAKE YOU!”

The Bible says,

Now when Job’s three friends heard of all this evil that was come upon him [JOB], they came every one from his own place: Eliphaz the Temanite…Bildad the Shuhite…and Zophar the Naamathite…for they had made an appointment together to come to mourn with him and to comfort him…And when they lifted up their eyes afar off and knew him [JOB] not, they lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent everyone his mantle, and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven. So they sat down with him [JOB] upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spake a word unto him: for they saw that his grief was very great.”   (Job 2:11-13)   Read on,  “WHEN FRIENDS FORSAKE YOU!”

BRING IT DOWN ON HOME:

You may be thinking that you are the only one on Earth with problems! Honey, Baby! It ain’t necessarily so! Whatever you are going through, someone else has been there and/or someone else is on the way to a lot more devastation than you.

Here is a little background about Brother JOB!  As you know, Job was a perfect and upright man who was not chasing skirts, cheating at the card table, or pretending to be something he was not. He was an honorable man who was highly esteemed in the East. Furthermore, Job was rich! Well now, a little financial blessings goes a long ways!

Unfortunately, Job had lazy grown-ass children (including his daughters). Theys was no good because theys were always feasting and partying.   They didn’t care nothing about their DAD!  The Bible never mentions (not one time) that Job’s grown children helped in the field or helped the servants to gather the 7,000 sheep…3,0000 camels…500 oxen…or 500- she asses.  No way!  They were to busy preparing themselves to party and looking in the mirror at their designer clothes! Everyone in the East knew that they were rich!  Sounds familiar?  They were born with silver spoons in their mouths –  above and beyond working for a living.

To make matters worse, Job performed the duties of a Priest because he made burnt offerings to GOD,    “…according to the number of them all [his children]:  for Job said,   It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed GOD in their hearts.  Thus did Job continually.”  (Job 1:5)   Notice, Job prayed for them all the time.  Do you find yourself calling upon the Lord about your mate, children, family members,  and other situations?  This is a good thing.

YEP!   Terrible things happen to good people!   Job’s world got rocked by the dEVIL and he lost everything. So, along comes Job’s three friends (Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar) and they were horrified, speechless, and stupefied.  Yet, they came with good intentions to comfort and to mourn with Job; instead, they persecuted Job and falsely accused him of sin!  When you get the chance, read the Book of Job!

Like Job’s three friends (Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar), we have friends and family members who side with us (for a while); then, they jump the fence against us. Each one of Job’s friends planned this visit; so the visit was intentional. Without the Internet, they all heard about Job’s Dilemma – surely caravans and people traveling carried the news. As you know, bad news travels quickly! When they got to Job’s House, they could not believe Job’s condition as he was full of sores, covered in dirt and dust, sitting down on the ground just like a Motherless child. Yet, they showed no mercy to Job because each one of them found fault with Job and made hard speeches against Job.

Likewise, our friends come to spy on our living conditions; then they go back and talk behind our backs.  Please note, every body is not like Job’s friends as there are good Christian and non-Christian loving family members, friends, and co-workers who will do whatever it takes to help. But, there are people who will say,  Honey…that toilet was so nasty….that kitchen was so messed up….that house was so jacked up….”    You know what I mean?

Notice, Job’s friends never said, “LET US PRAY TO GOD!”   If you find yourself struck down to the ground, don’t stay there. GET UP AND PRAY TO THE LORD GOD!  Don’t rely on family and friends to take pity. Don’t rely on others to pray with you or for you!   The Word says, “Stir up the gift that is within you!”

Do like JOB who said, “Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I reutrn thirther: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” (Job 1:21) In all of this, Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly. When friends forsake you, ‘CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD GOD!”

Have a Blessed Day!
