The Bible says, “All the presidents of the kingdom [Babylon], the governors, and the princes, the counselors, and the captains have consulted together to establish a royal statute and to make a firm decree that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.” (Daniel 6:7) We live in a time of conspiracies and plots in high places and the Word of God calls it, “…spiritual wickedness in high places!” It really seems we are reliving ancient days of old because the heads of nations (presidents, kings and queens), states, elected officials, parliament, governors, military personnel, counselors, etc., are carrying on as self-appointed demi-gods and dictators! It is time for all of us to face facts. Please read on. My question, “Are You in the LIONS’ DEN?”
BRING IT DOWN ON HOME:
Poor Daniel (forever cut off from marrying and having children) was the sole object of the leaders of one hundred and twenty (120) provinces. Considering Daniel’s modest attire, appearance, and diet (probably weighing about 120 pounds), these fools were jealous of him. Why? Daniel had favor with king Darius, “It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an 120 princes which should be over the whole kingdom and over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give account unto them, and the king should have no damage. Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.” (Daniel 6:1-3)
The selection process was purely based on the godly and holy spirit housed in Daniel’s body “…because an excellent spirit was in him…” Not only did Daniel watch his calories and diet, he prayed three times a day…he consulted GOD concerning his life and the welfare of the kingdom…he fasted…he obeyed GOD’s laws and commandments…he did not seek to destroy his enemies…and he lived right! Yet, Daniel’s reward for righteous living was not anything you’d like to hear about because “….whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save the king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.” If possible, Daniel’s enemies would have put him in an electric chair!
As you all know, Daniel was cast into the lions’ den for a whole night! While Daniel’s opponents feasted, celebrated , and gave each other high-fives, king Darius fasted all night, refused to sleep, and sent away his dancing girls and musicians. In fact the bar and the kitchen were closed until further notice!
Early in the morning, the king ran to the den of lions saying, “O Daniel, servant of the Living GOD, is Thy GOD, whom thou servest continually able to deliver thee from the lions? Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever. My God hath sent His angel, and hath shut the lions’ mouths that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before Him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.” (Daniel 6:19-23)
MY LORD! Just like in Daniel’s day, today, people don’t want prayer in the schools, they don’t want workers to talk about the goodness of the Lord on the job, they dislike it when folks send out emails to have prayer in the conference room, they don’t want Christians to celebrate the birth of Christ, some banks and financial institutions no longer allow Christmas decorations and trees to be on display (but they come to work on Halloween dressed up as witches, Chucky Cheese, vampires, the walking dead and they put Halloween candies out on display for customers to eat. More so, we call right wrong and wrong right!
GOD turned Daniel’s captivity because Daniel was not a law breaker and he was innocent from all accusations. Daniel’s only guilt was praying to the ALMIGHTY GOD! Like Daniel, all of GOD’s children should be doing the same. Never mind about being politically correct or pleasing other folks, because we’re not to be afraid of those who can kill the body! Instead, we are to fear GOD as HE has power over the spirit, soul, and body.
Let’s assume we all have issues and have fallen short of the Glory of GOD. Maybe we told a little white lie or something else but we have sinned against GOD (and some of us keep on sinning). The Word tells us the LORD GOD is merciful, compassionate, loving, and forgiving. On this side of Heaven (while the blood is running warm in our veins), we need to humble ourselves, repent, make an-about-face, and serve the LORD GOD.
If your head is in the lion’s mouth or you are surrounded by lions and lionesses, you need to fly into the arms of the ALMIGHTY GOD. There is no other ground of safety except the Solid Rock and that Rock is JESUS! Perhaps, you’ve escaped one lion but there is another one (maybe two or three) down the road. The dEVIL is waiting to catch your guards down and he ain’t no fool because he is the prince of the air…the father of lies…a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour…and he is planning on your early demise. Again, I ask the question, “Are You in the LIONS’ DEN?”
Have a Blessed Day!
