The Bible says,
(A) “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to Thy [GOD] word. With my whole heart have I sought Thee: O let me not wander from Thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee. Blessed art Thou, O LORD: teach me Thy statutes. ” (Psalm 119:9-12)
(B) “It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn Thy statues. The law of Thy [GOD] mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.” (Psalm 119:71-72)
BRING IT DOWN ON HOME:
It’s time for us to accept the fact that there is a GOD and HE is a jealous GOD! No man can serve two masters! In fact, David learned that it was hard to serve God and women – we dare not talk about his king David’s son Solomon (who had one thousand wives/concubines). Unfortunately, there was no Viagra in that day so I will never understand how Solomon survived all of that!
We know that confession is good for the soul. But do you know, this? You ain’t got to go before a priest or rabbi to confess your sin(s) because we’ve been commanded to go directly to JESUS CHRIST! Why should you confess to a priest or rabbi? Ain’t the priest or rabbi just a man (made out of the same dirt as all of us) and he is subject to the same sins and failures as the rest of us! In fact, the priest or rabbi may be more sinful than you suspect! In fact, many pastors are not true men of the faith! There’s always headliners about this pastor and that pastor who’ve sinned against the Word of God by committing adultery or taking money from the church, or involved in homosexuality affairs. Now, don’t you throw rocks at me because the Bible spells out the Commandments of GOD – I ain’t got no commandments to give you!
What did king David say? He said, “It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn Thy statues. The law of Thy [GOD] mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.”
David said a mouth full! After king David strayed from GOD’s Word, he was afflicted and he admitted this to the entire World as it’s written the the Bible for us to read!
Thus, one good thing came out of David’s painful disease, he learned that GOD was not playing with him, “With my whole heart have I sought Thee: O let me not wander from Thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee. Blessed art Thou, O LORD: teach me Thy statutes. ” Question: Does David’s latter commit sound like a person whose learned his lesson? Answer: Yes!
Although king David did not receive complete healing and physical restoration, he received spiritual restoration and he accepted GOD’s judgment against him,
“I know, O LORD, that Thy judgments are right, and that Thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me. Let, I pray Thee, Thy merciful kindness be for me comfort, according to Thy word unto Thy servant. Let Thy tender mercies come unto me, that I may live for Thy law is my delight. Let my heart be sound in Thy statues; that I be not ashamed.” (Psalm 119:76-80)
So, we see that king David is rooted and grounded in the ALMIGHTY GOD, “…I will keep Thy precepts with my whole heart….I delight in Thy law…” (Psalm 119:69b, 70b)
QUESTION: What about us? ANSWER: Perhaps you have sinned against the LORD GOD and you are godly sorrowful for your sins. In fact, all have sinned an fallen short of the glory of God! Like king David, you may not be completely healed from your sickness and/or disease but your spiritual man/woman is reunited with the LORD. Nonetheless, you must humble yourself, pray, and seek GOD’s face. As we all know, “…not all sickness is unto death…”
If GOD is willing, many things can happen as HE can turn your captivity around – you may be healed or not…your life may be prolonged…the illness may subside or not…you may learn to live with your condition(s)…and you may not die from that particular illness. Instead, you may slip on a banana pill, tumble down the stairs, or be hit by a moving vehicle! Whatever the situation, you should humble yourself and re-read king David’s words in Psalm 119:76-80.
Tell the LORD GOD, “I know that I have been wrong and You O LORD are right in Your judgment against me! I confess my sins(s) and I beg Your forgiveness. Cover me in Your Blood and write Your Words in my heart. Let the Holy Spirit live within my soul, mind, body, and bones. Let your blood flow throughout my body. Tame my body and control the lusts of my flesh! Do not take your Spirit from me, O LORD! Teach me Thy statues and write them in my heart and give me the victory. Save my soul from Hell because I want to live with you forever and ever. LORD, save me and keep me safe every day.” This is the way Constance Lee prays!
You see, we cannot be saved one day and sinning the next. The LORD GOD looks down from Heaven with a terrible frown on His face! Although, He could strike us dead, He is a forgiving, merciful, and compassionate GOD! For instance, He says, “Well, I see he/she is up to the same old tricks ad lifestyle. I will close this window for now and check them out later.” Before “later” comes, we’d better check ourselves as it may be later than we think! GOD is not playing with us! Have a Blessed Day!
