The BIBLE says, “And He [the LORD GOD] fenced it and gathered out the stones, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made winepress therein: and HE looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes. What could have been done more to My vineyard, that I have not done in it?” (Isaiah 5:2, 4) Don’t look at yourself as an isolated incidence or blemish on the face of the Earth as you mean a great deal to the LORD. This is the same problem we all face because we let ourselves down! If you are reading this Blog, you are just as guilty as I! We’ve all been blessed and we’ve all had people and things taken from us. Now, we need to accept our own faults and failures. “WHAT MORE CAN THE LORD DO?”
BRING IT DOWN ON HOME:
Prophet Isaiah was speaking to the Children of Judah but this Word is for us today! Actually, Chapter 5:1, 3, 7 begins with, “Now will I sing to My well-beloved a song of My beloved touching His vineyard. My well-beloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill….And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah…What could have been done more to My vineyard that I have not done in it? For the vineyard for the Lord of Hosts is the house of Israel and the men of Judah His pleasant plant…” Can’t you hear the LORD GOD’S song of sadness to HIS people and to you.
Like the LORD GOD, you may have done many things for others – especially for your family, friends, and children. For example, you may have purchased an automobile or house, bought food, clothing, or medicine, or paid outstanding bills and that person was so thankful but he or she continued on his irresponsible path. And so, he/she lost the car, the house, quit college, and/or didn’t pay their bills with the money you provided. Now, you are saddened (like the LORD GOD) and your soul and spirit is grieving because you tried to stand them up to be responsible and they are not.
Moving on, the LORD GOD gives rightful warnings to Judah/Jerusalem and to us for our sins, “I will tell you what I will do to My vineyard: (1) I will take away the hedge and it shall be eaten up; (2) I will break down the wall and it shall be trodden down; (3) I will lay it waste and it shall not be pruned nor digged; (4) I will allow briers and thorns to come up in it; and (4) I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain up it.” (Isaiah 5:5-6)
We can take GOD’S Word at face value as many of us have ruined our own talents, skills, joy, inheritance, and squandered the blessings bestowed on us from the LORD GOD. In truth, we can’t blame anyone except ourselves! We wonder why our hair and teeth fall out…We wonder why we look old and age before our time…We wonder why our bodies are breaking down…We wonder why we have so many ailments…We wonder why our houses are tumbling down and not repaired for the winter…We wonder why we’ve lost our jobs and monies…We wonder why the kids are cutting school and doing drugs…We wonder why we’re alcoholics and strung out…We wonder why we die so young…We wonder this and that….YET WE REFUSE TO TURN BACK TO THE LORD GOD!
LET’S GO BACK (with a REPENTFUL HEART, SOUL, and SPIRIT) TO THE LORD AND HE WILL RESTORE US ACCORDING TO HIS MERCY, GRACE, GLORY, AND RICHES! Really, “WHAT MORE CAN THE LORD DO?” He did not leave us; instead, we left Him!
Have a Blessed Day!
