The BIBLE states, “And the LORD said unto David my father, Whereas it was in thine heart to build an house unto my name… Nevertheless thou shalt not build the house but thy son (Solomon) shall build the house unto my name…” (I Kings 8:18-19) Don’t you see? The Lord GOD knows us and the intents of our hearts as there is nothing hidden from HIS sight. You may have blessings on-the-way but you allow the enemy to deceive you and to thwart those blessings. Thus, “It’s in Your Heart…but…Nevertheless…” So, make sure your heart is in the right place!
BRING IT DOWN ON HOME:
As you may know, king Solomon built a glorious House for the LORD ALMIGHTY because GOD commissioned him for the job! But why did GOD endorse Solomon rather than king David? Again, as you know, GOD said to David, “You shall not build a house for My name, because you have been a man of war and have shed blood.” (I Chronicles 28:3) Without shedding blood, there was no other way for king David to bring peace to the Jews and to unite both the Northern and Southern Kingdoms of Israel – that’s a whole another story.
Since it is “Good Friday” let’s talk about the “good things” we plot to do. But firstly, let’s look at David‘s life (because this lesson concerns him). Before he became king, David was running for his life from king Saul who was extremely jealous of his popularity and God’s anointing on his life. If the LORD had not interceded for David, he would still be running! Do you ever feel this way? Some of us have been running for 20, 30, 40, 50 or more years from the devil and his gang members! In fact, you cannot sleep at nights because your mind is over-worked!
Here’s the point! Many times, we purpose to do good things in our heart but obstacles get in the way. For instance, we intended to pay a bill on the eve the bill was due but someone called us…we talked a few hours laughing and hollering…we forgot to pay on line or over the phone… and we went to bed…the next morning we woke up and wow the thought returned to our mind. Thus, the bill is delinquent with a $25.00 or more late fee and the credit card company doesn’t care about our being side tracked as they want the bill money and the late fee(s).
The WORD says, “For the LORD searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek HIM, HE will be found by you but if you forsake HIM, HE will cast you off forever.” (I Chronicles 28:9b) Perhaps, the Lord GOD did not call us to erect an apartment building or shopping mall, but we are accountable for the temple (the body) we live in.
Have a Blessed Day!
