JESUS said, “Behold thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. The man departed and told the Jews that it was JESUS, which had made him whole.” (John 5:14-15)
For those who do not know the story, here is a synopsis for you. Once a year (in those days), an Angel from Heaven descended into the Pool of Bethesda in Jerusalem. Many impotent folk, blind, halt, and withered waited for the water to be stirred. But there was an impotent man who had been there for thirty-eight years but there was no one to help him get into the pool. But that day, JESUS was there and HE had compassion on the man saying, “Wilt thou be made whole?” The man answered, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. Jesus said unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. Immediately, the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.” (John 5:2-9)
Afterward, the lame man (who was made whole) went into the temple, and the Jews told him, “It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed. The man said, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk. Then they asked him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed and walk? But the man did not know it was JESUS! Afterward, JESUS found the man in the temple and said unto him, BEHOLD THOU ART MADE WHOLE: SIN NO MORE, LEST A WORSE THING COME UNTO THEE.” (John 5:2-14)
Do you see, how stupid people are? The Pharisees were jealous and grumbled about a good deed performed by JESUS - just because it was on the Sabbath! Mark 2:27 states, “The Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath.” Thus, the Sabbath is a day to rest and worship the LORD GOD! Furthermore, “JESUS is LORD of the SABBATH!” (Matthew 12:1-8; Mark 2:23-28; Luke 6:1-5) Cannot the LORD do as HE pleases regardless of the day, month, and year?
Luke 14:3-6 states, “JESUS rebuked the Pharisees saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day? And they [Pharisees] held their peace…Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day? And they could not answer Him again to these things.”
Prophet Moses wrote in Genesis 2:2-3 states, “And on the seventh day, GOD ended HIS work which HE had made; and HE rested on the seventh day from all HIS work which HE had made. And GOD blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it.”
Hebrews 10:25 states, “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” How man people literally stay home and fail to attend church and worship the LORD GOD? We must worship GOD in spirit and in truth! When you attend church, you will hear the Word being preached, praise teams leading congregational songs, choirs singing and glorifying the LORD, altar call (that the time you can go kneel before the LORD and repent). It’s normal (down right human) to feel lonely, misunderstood, down and out, depressed, worried, concerned about your personal life and health, but one must lay aside every weight and hindrance to worship the LORD GOD! We were made to worship HIM! You were not made to worship demi-gods, your auto, your Boo, your girlfriend/boyfriend, etc. If you put anything before the LORD GOD, HE will be jealous! Don’t let BOO take you to hell!
BRING IT DOWN ON HOME:
Hallelujah – I am rejoicing! Whether or not the directors, producers, and writers are indirectly hinting Biblical principles to the entire World, GOD’S Word is being herald loud and clear!!! Like “Equalizer3’s hidden message “I know it was the BLOOD,” “Equalizer2’s” hidden message is “Reconsider or else something worse will happen to YOU!” Frankly, the movie is filled with blood, sin, and violence – same old same old thang folks been doing before Noah’s Deluge and afterwards.
Denzel Washington (aka Robert McCall in the movie) is a so-called nonexistent DIA agent, current vigilante living in Boston, and working as a Lyft driver. As soon as the movie opens, he is disguised as a black do-gooder Muslim (riding on a train in Istanbul TURKEY) to rescue the cutest little American girl (about 7 years old) whose being kidnapped by her abusive Turkish Dad. We are not told how the kidnapping information was given to McCall.
Here is the punch line – Mr. McCall gives the Turkish dad “…a chance to stop and reconsider the worst thing that can happen to him…” After McCall sets his Timex watch, he takes care of the Turkish goons and tells the Turkish dad, “..there are two kinds of pain and you get to choose…” Lights out and the little girl is returned to America.
Fast Forward: McCall returns to his job as a Lyft driver, picks up a call-girl being dumped in his car but the woman has been sexually battered and given drugs. McCall drops her at the hospital for medical care, then, returns to the pick up posh apartment. He rings the doorbell where about five well-to-do fools are drinking, smoking, and doing drugs. McCall tells them about their wrong doing and insensitivity regarding the victim.
So, McCall sets his Timex watch to render Divine Justice to the white-collar criminals living on borrowed time and their daddies’ wealth. They ain’t sorry for their sins and they show no remorse for the abuse/pain/suffering to the call-girl. McCall tells them, “…tonight I’m gonna give you a chance to do right tonight so give me your cell phones, cameras, and whatever you used against her…” These white collar punks locked the door thinking to beat up the old black man (they called McCall – Pops); but McCall knocked the hell out of all of them! Oh yea! McCall got a 5-Star rating from them and they told him (before the beating) “..give yourself a nice tip..”
Again, we see the chance to repent is offered but repentance is the last thing on the minds of these so-called civilized punks! As far as they are concerned, there is nothing to be sorry for! So, Divine Justice is applied to these white collar punks who are no better than black ghetto punks. Sin is Sin! Wrong is Wrong! The race, color, ethnicity, gender, wealth or poverty does not matter to the LORD JESUS CHRIST. The LORD GOD owns you as HE made you, yo Mama, yo Daddy, and everything including the Universe! The Word, says, “Do unto others as you would have other do unto to you…” After McCall got through with these high-rise punks, I’m certain, they needed a few band-aids!
Fast Forward: McCall lived in a tenant building and helps a young black male, Miles (played by Ashton Sanders) who is obviously confused about his life (this kid lost his brother in a tragic death). Miles has great potential but gets mixed up with these black ghetto/gun packing punks who wants to make Miles a killer! Again, McCall rescues the young man from the snake pit after knocking out a few thugs on his way into the building. Boy, did these thugs get a taste of righteous honey!
Here’s the punch line, Miles twice asked McCall, WHY ME?” Where have we heard this line before? I will tell you, its Equalizer3, Emma (played by Dakota Fanning) twice asked Robert McCall, “WHY ME?”
You may be wondering why I am focusing on two major points: (1) ”Reconsider or else something worse will happen to you;” and (2) ”Why me?” The LORD JESUS CHRIST, died for my sins, your sins, and the sins of the entire World! There is no greater love than this that HE laid down HIS life for us! ALL OF US CAN BE FORGIVEN FOR OUR SINS. WHY US? BECAUSE GOD LOVES US! Why not you? Did you make yourself? Can you save yourself? You can’t even give breath to your nostrils or cast the flees of your dog!
According to John 7:53-8:11, the LORD forgave the woman caught in adultery. The Pharisees bought a woman who was caught red-handed in bed with a man who was not her husband. Lots of busy-bodies in town watch what others are doing; however, they don’t see their own sins! The Pharisees hounded the LORD about HIS own laws which HE gave to Moses on Mt. Sinai. Can’t you see how stupid and blind cited people (who proclaim themselves more righteous) don’t realize they too are guilty of the “sin of judging.” There is only one JUDGE – THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY!
What about the woman caught in adultery? Like today, this really shows us how much hatred is directed to a loose woman, especially if she is a married woman. When a man commits adultery or fornication, people say, “oh he’s just sowing his oats.” When a woman commits fornication or adultery, she is considered a whore/nasty girl.
The Pharisees ridiculed and belittled the woman caught in adultery. Picture the scene, they broke into her house and dragged her from the bed (half-naked and/or with little clothing) and ran her down the street to JESUS! But the man got away! Most likely, he was present and hiding in the crowd. Yet, the Pharisees chose not to bring the TOTAL TRUTH to the LORD JESUS as they only presented the woman caught in adultery.
The Pharisees ignored these Old Testament Scriptures: (1) Leviticus 20:10 states, “And the man that committeth adultery with another man’s wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbor’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.” (2) Deuteronomy 22:22 states, “If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then they shall both of them die, both the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shall thou put away evil from Israel.”
The Pharisees were tempting the LORD with partial truth because the Mosaic Law states that “an adulterous woman must be stoned; “ but what about the man? She wasn’t having sex with herself! The Pharisees failed to realize that JESUS came to save the lost not to condemn; but the Pharisees hoped the LORD would not follow the Mosaic Law. When JESUS stooped down to write in the dirt, perhaps, he wrote the equation was not equal because only one sinner was present. If so, he Pharisees would say to the LORD, ”…what about the man who sinned with the woman? you don’t know the law!”
But, JESUS got them real good saying, “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.” (John 8:7) The Pharisees didn’t see this coming! They all got up out of there and the first to go were the eldest (certainly they had lots of stains on their old nasty robes). Plenty of them had been with whores; but they never got caught. Even today, nasty men (including husbands and grandfathers) are picking up street walkers and frivolous women. I’ll bet these these men ain’t taking them to Sunday School!
Let’s look at what JESUS told the woman who was caught in adultery! JESUS said, “Woman, where are those thine accusers? Hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, LORD. And JESUS said unto, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and SIN NO MORE.” (John 8:10-11)
This is a direct warning to everyone who is breathing, “Reconsider thy ways, repent, stop sinning (over and over and over and over) unless something worse happens to you.” Turn off your phone, block a few callers (who are soliciting you to meet them at the bar or motel room), stop spying/lusting on your neighbor’s wife/husband, stop flirting at the office, stop lowering your blouse to show cleavage, stop wearing booty clothing to attract attention, stop bending over at work for others to get a good look at you derriere, stop following others in the supermarket (playing like you’re looking at the same thang), stop sitting in your car watching others and/or waiting for certain sexes to exit the store (using your cell phone to capture profiles and/or car tags, stop whatever it is that keeps you in sin!
Demons and evil spirits are real; but they do not have a body - that’s why they get into your mind because demons/evil spirits want inhabit your body which enables them to enjoy sin in the flesh! Once they get in, its hard to get them out! Turn to the LORD JESUS CHRIST and HE alone will save you. “Reconsider or else something worse will happen to you.”
