Worldwide News: “Don’t Be CARELESS, QUIET, and SECURE!”

The BIBLE states,  “…and they dwelt careless, after the manner of the Zidonians,  QUIET and SECURE;  and there was no magistrate in the land, that might put them to shame in any thing; and they were far from the Zidonians, and had no business with any man.”   (Judges 18:7)

BRING IT DOWN ON HOME:

We’re still in Micah’s house (in the Book of Judges, Chapter 17).

(1)  DON’T BUILD YOUR SPIRITUAL HOUSE ON FALSEHOOD and PRETENSE:

As you know, Micah’s house was full of idols, false gods, and he hired an unfaithful Levite from Bethlehem-Judah to be his personal priest.  Well,  that’s a mouth full!  When a house is built upon a poor foundation (idolatry and unrighteousness), don’t expect it to stand against trials, tribulations, and storms.  This is exactly what happened to Micah’s house.

(2)  WATCH and PRAY AS THE DEVIL IS SEEKING WHOM HE MAY ROB, KILL, SPOIL and DEVOUR:

The Children of Dan (Danites from Zorah and Eshtaol) sent five spies (men of valor) from their coasts to search the land for an inheritance.   Guess where their search took them?   They came to Mt. Ephraim to the house of Micah and they lodged there because they recognized the voice of the young Levite priest (who gave them the 411 on his new master) and Micah invited them in.

(3)  DON’T BLESS YOUR ENEMIES BY TELLING THEM TO GO IN PEACE WITH GOD’S BLESSINGS (OR ELSE YOU ARE A PART TAKER OF THEIR SINS):

This same priest told these men,  “Go in peace…the Lord is your way where in ye go.”   They went their way telling their brethren,  “ARISE, that we may go up against them for we have seen the land, and, behold, it is VERY GOOD…be not slothful to go, and enter to possess the land. When ye go, ye shall come unto a PEOPLE SECURE, and to a LARGE LAND; for GOD HATH GIVEN IT INTO YOUR HANDS; a place where there is no want of any thing that is in the earth.”   (Judges 17:9)

(4)  DON’T BE  CONTENT AND SATISFIED WITH YOUR MODE OF LIVING and STAY BEFORE THE LORD GOD:

The five DANITE spies took 600 fighting men with them and they took the land including Micah’s gods.  The people of Mt. Ephraim and Micah were taken by surprise.  So Micah ran after them crying about his property (i.e., the false gods he made)  but Micah was not  a man of valor neither did he have an army!   Basically, the Children of Dan told Micah to “shut up” and he backed down.  Next,  the DANITES looked for another conquest, the City of Laish.  Like the residents of Mt. Ephraim, the inhabitants of Laish were QUIET and SECURE.  So the DANITES smote them with the sword, took their possessions, and burned the city!

THOUGHTS:  Without question, Micah was a thief, liar, and idolator.  He should have repented and served the true LIVING GOD!  The ALMIGHTY GOD is a keeper and HE would have prevented the Danites from over-coming  Micah’s household and the land.  Likewise the residents of Laish were idolators, too relaxed, quiet, and secure.  What a lesson for all of us to perform SPIRITUAL self-examinations as well as WATCH and PRAY!

Have a Blessed Day!
